They fired him, and he went on to develop what would become a hugely successful solo career with the help of his future wife, Sharon Arden (daughter of Sabbath's manager, Don Arden.) Great concert thus it has always seems strange to me to hear Dio sing the old Ozzy stuff... Unfotunately the first time I saw them it was we Gillan on the Stonehenge stage and singing Smoke on the water !

I loved Heaven and Hell back in the day and I own it, Mob Rules and Live Evil on vinyl. This is another great show. I am stoked about seeing Heaven and Hell sometime soon. Don't try to compare Ozzy vs. Dio. Both are great in their own ways, enough said.

This is an excellent recording. Obviously quite similar to Live Evil, which is a major favourite of mine from my youth. There's no point comparing the Ozzy / Dio eras of the band - both are different beasts and both are superb in their own right. If you lke Dio era Sabbath, this show will blow you away. Period.

I saw Riot, Molly Hatchet(with their new singer that nobody knew about),Sabbath,BOC at the Oregon Jam July 1980. I was 19 and it still ranks as one of the very best shows ever. Weather was perfect, everybody just having fun. Riot only played 5 songs sadly, they were very underated, very tight catchy songs. I agree about Technical Ecstasy, underated, very powerful sound, love Geoff Nicholls keyboards.
