Concert Summary

This recording was made at the Los Angeles Forum in 1968, at the conclusion of the band's final U.S. tour. Within five weeks, Cream had played their farewell show at the Royal Albert Hall; Jack Bruce would embark on a solo career; and Clapton, along with drummer Ginger Baker, would eventually form the monumental but ill-fated super group Blind Faith.

But for a time, in 1968, it was a long climb up the hill of rock 'n' roll and Cream sat firmly at…entire summary

19/10/68 -It was my Birthday; turned 17, short holiday to Los Angeles, saw an amasing Cream concert, and Eric tried to chat me up outside the stage door. It was a lovely time. I do so wish I'd said Yes! Still, a brilliant performance, and from only three musicians - no computers, no tape loops, no backup off stage, just three very talented men.

Jack's bass = Godzilla approaching Japan. Ginger laid back, likely very-very-very into old habits, and assuredly bleeding from his ear-drums from the Marshall stacks-assault. Eric running standard riffs on "Sitting," w/steady energy increase after 3:00, Jack belting from just above his colon, tight conclusion. "I'm So Glad," absolute-belter closer they used often... has anyone heard the March '68 Winterland (San Francisco) version where they closed after unleashing "Spoonful" and "Crossroads" that ended up on Wheels of Fire? This version, to my ears slightly scattered, but a worthy relic nonetheless. To the powers that be: I beg of you to find it in your hearts to release any board material that may exist from the August 22-31 1967, Fillmore West shows from the mighty CREAM. With GOD as my witness, LKjr.

Wow!!! The worst I ever had of a good live Cream song was wonderful...this stuff is very good...I had a big grin on my face & tears of joy running "down-my-nose" and "I Thank You!... I'll be back... (again-Wow!!!)... they are/were "Rock Stars" & deserve to be...) Wow...!!! Thanks again. RJ Troy, MI

I attended this concert at the forum. was one of the ones who came down to the fist few rows of chairs from my seat up high near the end to be pushed back and over chairs by security. concert was great.still able to "pass it down" in those days , smoke was heavy, sound was very good for the Forum back then . I was surpised that the Forum was not full! seemed to have room to spare for many more people. One of the four best concerts I have seen.

I didn't know til recently that the royalties from Im So Glad helped Skip James in a very significant way...he was able to have cancer treatment at a Washington DC - area hospital toward the end of his life. So much for the 'white guys stealing black guys' music and giving nothing back' myth.

I stand corrected. I thought this was the Anaheim show, where Spirit opened. I also attended this Forum show. The opening act might have been Deep Purple. We're talking 40 years ago...
