Interview Summary

David Byrne is nothing else if not eclectic. With a career spanning music, film, dance, photography, graphic art, and just about anything else you can think of, he seems to make a living by keeping everyone on their toes. This interview was conducted shortly after the release of the "Stop Making Sense" movie, filmed at the tail end of their "Speaking In Toungues" tour - which would turn out to be their last live performances. It is very interesting to hear what Byrne was thinking about in terms of the band and the various steps he was planning at that point, when The Heads were at the creative peak and arguably the best band on the planet. This is one of the only interviews where Byrne gets comfortable enough to open up about his creative process. The interviewer also goes through all the questions posed in the Stop Making Sense album booklet, which he actually answers! This is great as Byrne is the one who wrote all those questions, but avoided answering in most other interviews. Byrne was always a challenging interview and this one has its awkard moments, but there is plenty of great content at a critical turning point in the Talking Heads career. Alan
