Concert Summary

This is a complete recording of the late show Derek and the Dominos played as headliners over Ballin' Jack and Humble Pie at the Fillmore East.

After months touring with Delaney and Bonnie and collaborating with them on his first solo album, Clapton took the nucleus of his band - Whitlock, Radle and Gordon - and formed Derek and the Dominos. By 1970, Clapton had…entire summary

This show melts my brain every time I play it, Than you Wolfgang for presenting shows and bands that stand the test of time! This one is a mind bender.... If only the creativity of this era could somehow return...

It doesn't get much better than this...this is how music was meant to be played...the Dominoes are in fine form...playing as a cohesive unit, no star power here! Clapton is on fire, Jim Gordon on drums is propelling, Bobby Whitlock adds that soul and Carl Raddle is rock steady. I'd love to hear the Tampa concert with Duane Allman joining in.

My first trip to Wolfies vault ,via the Country Joe MacDonald Website, thanx Country Joe and Thanx Wolfgang, my kind of Gang for sure. I always try to figure out what made the music of the era stand apart from music before or since, I think that the gold formula was hit upon, and later groups tried to vary it so as not to sound exactly like this period, and that combined with the relative newness of the sound at that time, make it, especially for those of us that lived through the period, the incomparable treat to the ears that it is. The music had a purity of intention that seems lacking in todays styles, and I don't dare say that there aren't throngs and hordes of extremely talented people out here, not by a stretch. Thanx again to the dedicated people who put together sites like this and the Archive, all of this happened shortly after I lost my decades old vinyl record collection in a storage shed debacle ( they are heartless soulless bastards who will have a special place in hell ) but anyway this happened and I am still able to ( mostly) hear the kind of stuff I lost. Cosmic man! peaceout for now Joe J

Little Wing has a lot of soul. Hendrix had been dead less than a month when this was recorded.
