Concert Summary

This is one of the very first live shows of the classic Fleetwood Mac lineup that included Mick Fleetwood, John and Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Fleetwood Mac, formed after McVie and Fleetwood left John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1966, had made its mark in both Europe and the U.S. as a…entire summary

What a great group and thanks to airwave bombardment of that time period, you almost took them for granted. Their music stands the test of time--all three singers. Too bad Christine developed a fear of flying and has opted to retire from touring. I associate Stevie and Lindsay most closely with the Mac sound, but Christine was a vital part, too.

what a great voice its fab to listen to a artist at the start of several years of high class album releasesnow 33 years later sadly that voice is gone no longer will u hear such clarity and style

Stevie is absolutely awesome! Great and strong voice! Kingfish, why do you speak of Christine like she is not alive?? Fleetwood Mac will go down in history as an awesome band!

I have been looking for this recording for YEARS. How come there is no download option/cost?

I was at this show expecting to see a Bob-Welch led FM. Instead, after Golden earing and Henry Gross (Shannon Is Gone...), THIS group came out. There was true disappointment and some anger in the crowd. At least we heard some old FM (Station Man / Hynotized). It was neat watching Chris kind of take charge of the group as a reluctant, uncomfortable frontperson. I loved the backdrop the group used in the 74-75 tours, brown birds(?) arrising out of Mick's drums. Also loved Mick's demented African talking drum feature section that is sadly missing here. Hey: The Capitol was a great venue. We saw John Sebastian in the summer of 76 riding "Welcome Back." Awful sound until the encore when he put the guitar down, picked up the autoharp and did Summer in the City and Didn't Have to Be So Nuce. His opening act was Billy Joel!

When we got word Fleetwood Mac was coming in June of '75 we signed on, even though there was a new lineup, past history of their music and my concert experiences said go. In the last week before the show they changed the venue from a suburban St. Louis club to Kiel Opera House, a great hall, with capacity going from 800 to 3500, guess they underestimated sales. I found a few hits of old acid in my wallet so we were primed. I never was truly a Stevie fan however the new stuff with her was good, but twirling capes aren't needed as I usually provided my own visuals. When she left the stage though we got a better view of what Lindsay had to offer, and the band really plunged into some deeper explorations on the themes they were putting out there. They'd construct this amazing wall of sound that had such solid and soulful depth, then Lindsay would break through with an fantastic burst and the music was simply flying through all of us. Christine was sick that night and couldn't make it all the way through the show, so then we were down to the power trio set-up for a good portion of the concert and all of our little group were simply dazzled. For some reason most of the crowd offered just polite applause but we were truly captivated. Could be that our altered states came into play, but we were definitely on the wavelength, in the moment. Not long after, as most of you recall, this album went through the roof as folks statred to catch on to the pop oriented slant of this incarnation. But in concert this group, at this time, was as great a concert experience I'd had in my life; and that covers a lot of shows with almost everyone of name from 1969 on. I'm glad I was there and peaking for this one.

I was at this concert back in 1975. We went thinking that Bob Welch and company were going to be on stage. Instead Lindsay and Stevie and walk out. I remember being very disappointed...in fact the background noice you hear on "Station Man" is actually the crowd BOOING!!!! Lots of people even walked out!!!!! My friend and I took advantage of a couple empty seats in the center of the 3rd row and after that I was hooked! Lindsay is the most amazing guitarist on the planet, especially then! "Future Games" and "Bare Trees" will always be my favorites...but that night at the Capital will never be forgotten!

that pumped peter green so full of drugs he sadly never fully came back from his own netherworld. "Anonymous" Green probably did drugs back in the day and probably drank, but his problems and early retirement were not exclusively drug/booze provoked. He had a fragile personality and fame hurt him. I do not know if he ever went through rehab but I am pretty sure he went through a couple of mental institutions. Regarding his "never coming back from his own netherworld" he recorded a few albums from 1977 to 1981 and has been recording at least since 1997 with "The Splinter Group". If you can imagine, he is probably about twice as good as he used to be (my opinion) with Mack. Check him out, there's about 5 or 6 cd's out by them maybe more. On this Fleetwood Mack I believe 1-Nicks sang like a goat 2-Lindsey is a masterful guitarist, comparable to any previous in the mack (and I am a hardcore Green-Spencer-Kirwan fan)3-Fleetwood-McVie is as good a rythm section as any, bar none. 4-Christine sang like her maiden name, Perfect, an angels voice to be sure, why the goat became their primary female singer, beats me. 5-She was a good songwriter, though. The goat, I mean.

Kingfish, Stevie and Lindsey never were officially married. And why do you speak of Christine as though she were dead? But you're right about Stevie's ass.
