Concert Summary

After distinguishing himself and achieving a level of recognition in Europe, like Eric Clapton before him, Peter Green departed John Mayall's Bluesbreakers in 1967, freeing himself of employment and artistic restrictions. However, unlike most of the British guitar greats, Green was never concerned with flash or becoming a guitar superstar. This humble attitude and his approach to music, made him one of the most compelling of all the British guitar players of the 60's. Green could play incisive and clean style perfectly, but was equally adept at playing with tremendous power. His style was…entire summary

Thank you thank you thank you. I always dreamed that these recordings must surely exist, and thanks to MrBB and the mysterious Dinky we all can smile and say " I told you so." Peter Green is THE MAN. What an inspirational, spiritual soul this man is. His guitar playing is simply other-worldly. This period of the Mac is stunning, with Danny and Jeremy and Mick and John all playing with fire, and of course Mr. Green is the actual fire. I cannot thank the Vault enough for presenting these rare Fleetwood Mac recordings to us! These were magical times, and as Mr Jimmy Page himself has stated, there is no better example of the real British Blues than the Fleetwood Mac of the late sixties, and 1970. RIP Wolfgang, you are still bringing us the very best!

The date remains unchanged, but the venue has been changed back to Stockholm, Konserthuset... This must be wrong, because I know the Mac played at the Cue Club in Gothenbourg on the 2nd of november 1969. So what is the current status on the date and place for this show? I guess you are still hesitating about it since you changed the venue back to Stockholm! Thanks, Jens

Sorry for my previous comment. Now to serious business. This concert has already been published on WV (back in November 2008) but then as Konserthuset,Stockholm (Sweden) dated March 3, 1969. Same songlist and timing as this one. Also, the sound/acoustic does not match Cue Club but more like the Konserthuset show. Has there been some kind of mix-up here? And why is the Konserthuset show gone?

WOW! Thank you WV and Dinky for taking on doing all that research. Great to see my my comments helped define the exact date for the show. Now, I can enjoy it EVEN MORE. :-)

Alan - wow! Thanks for the updated info! Now on question: A Swedish band called November also played this night. They are legendaty in Sweden. Was their set recorded as well? Please post it here if so! It maght be labeled November or Train, as they were called also. Thanks in advance, Jens

Hi all and thank you for your patience while we were researching just when and where this recording is from. Good news! We have indeed figured it out! Somehow the master (which was clearly labeled as Gothenburg, but undated) was mistakenly logged in transfer. Dinky and I have now cross-referenced all the itineraries for the band from 1969 and 1970 (not just books, online info, etc, but the actual original band itineraries from those years) and we are both convinced this recording is from the The Cue Club in Gothenburg, Sweden on November 2, 1969. From the content of the show it was obviously a performance that occurred AFTER the "Then Play On" sessions, rather than before, as several of you were also adamant about. I think you all will agree that the November 2nd date makes a heck of lot more sense. A revised summary and date/location correction will replace the incorrect information shortly. Thanks again to all who questioned this. We very much appreciate it! Alan

As Peter Greenshend (from FleetWHOd Mac, eh? :-)) correctly stated, this just can't be from 1969; however, I can't be the 4/1/70 Stockhlom show, either because I have this in its entirety as an audience recording and this runs over two hours and has a very different set list. Well, perhaps your show is from another date of the Scandinavian leg of their last European tour of March/April 1970.... Humm, maybe we're in typo city here and this is from the 3/28/70 Copenhagen show.... Just speculating, 'course.
