Concert Summary

Kicking off with a high energy, piano-driven instrumental jam, Joe Cocker and his backing band brings down the house at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia back in ’76. This show, recorded originally for broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour, is a nearly hour and a half long set of Cocker favorites and tracks off his most recent album, Stingray.

Stingray was an attempt by Cocker to mix reggae music with his signature bluesy rock sound, and the songs included here from that new album include “I Broke Down,” “Catfish,” “The Jealous Kind,” and “A Song For You,” among…entire summary

Unbelievably good. Sadly for me this line up never made it over to Europe. These were just the best session guys around at the tine - Eric Gale and Richard Tee sadly no longer with us. Although from the "soul fraternity" these cats could rock.

Having been to the Tower Theater, I would only add this trivial footnote: my ticket to see the Replacements there circa '86-'87 read "Tower Theater, Upper Darby, PA" and they were damn proud to make the distinction 'tween Upper Darby and Philly. Anyway, killer show! Will have to agree w/ Benabz, horns would have taken this into the stratosphere.....

Amir FaSaad, I just found this on the 'help' section: When will you begin streaming your concert video archives? By 2009 we hope to present never-before-seen live performance video in the Concert Vault from the thousands of concert videos we have in our archive. We are also working to add concert videos from our newest catalogs.

Joe with the Stuff Band. Some of the most recorded musicians in the music industry history. Same band that had John Belushi on SNL doing a parody of Joe while Joe was there. Can't believe this mix. No one is buried. Wish they listed who the background girls were !?! Does the 'Vault' offer video yet ? Wish there was one for this! Ciao, Amir FaSaad
