Blues-rock guitarist Johnny Winter was coming off five solid years of hit albums and sold out tours when he did this show in San Diego for the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio concert series. Winter was promoting Saints & Sinners, and still carving his own legacy in rock when, at around the same time of this recording, his younger brother and former band member Edgar, hit platinum with the LP They Only Come Out At Night, and his own band, the…entire summary

I saw this tour when it stopped at the Cape Cod Collisum in Barnstable. It was an old hockey area with the worst acoustics ever. I sat right down front and could not hear a single vocal during the entire performance. Then, to top it off, our driver got arrested leaving the venue for having an open beer. Still, JW is and was awesome!

Even though Johnny is not what he was 20 odd years ago -he still is great and is worth seeing live. We have lost Jimi and Rory, at least we still have Johnny from that era.

Listening to this reminds me of how good this cat used to be and how far he's fallen. He's now a barely competent player but 35 years ago - wow - no one could touch him...

Don't forget to check out the Son Seals Blues Band late show concert on the Vault with Johnny appearing as a guest. The sound quality and Johnny's tone is VERY SMOOTH indeed

Wow! I like this show even more than I like "Captured Live" and "Johnny Winter And Live", and that's saying a lot. I know a lot of blues purists prefer Johnny's early albums and later blues recordings, but Johnny's mid-1970s rock 'n' roll years are my favorites. Johnny!

Great to hear this show, I was at Madison Square Garden 5th row on this tour, my ears rang for two days. I have a request, can the vault dig down deep and find Johnny with Rick Derringer "Johnny Winter And" at the Fillmore East? We never heard the full show only bits and pieces from the Live album. Thanks for all the great music Wolfgang!!!

Anyone have details on 2nd guitarist Doug Brockie? Never heard this name before. He must have covered the gap between Derringer and Radford, leading up to Captured Live. Cant help but compare with Floyd R's masterpiece solos and harmonies on Captured......//Swede

I was 18 yrs. old and stationed in San Diego for Sonar School from Jan to May 1974. I was actually at THIS concert! I had worn out an 8-track of the Johnny Winter And album in high school and this was my first live Johnny Winter concert. Brownsville Station opened the show (Smokin' in the Boys Room) and as I recall Johnny wore a shinny gold open vest (this was before he had tatoos). His name was spelled out above and behind him in a classic Las vegas light-bulb style and when he played Johnny B. Goode I remember they flashed off and on. I'm 53 now and listening to this just made me tear up. I glad I lived to see the internet born! My dad just wouldn'a believed it!! gld Holden Beach, NC
