Concert Summary

This lengthy 1984-set showcases metal icons, Judas Priest, at their mid-1980s best. Consisting of the classic British Steel line-up that included vocalist Rob Halford, guitarists KK Downing and Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Dave Holland, this recording was originally done for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and is essentially a greatest hits collection for the band, with some extra surprises.

Opening with "Love Bites," which…entire summary

24 years later and still better than anything that's out right now. great set.

A blistering set. Certainly brings back memories of seeing Priest on every tour that came through Rochester, NY, four or five altogether. Each time was more exciting that the past one. Really tight band at this show. Funny thing happened several years after Priest folded up, I was at a Garth Brooks concert and Garth raisedup out of the stage (where Rob Halfod's hog emerged during Hell bent for Leather) and I noticed a familarity of the steel decking and steel grid they were using for a stage (I could still see KK and Glen stalking the wings of the stage with their axes) - I swear it was the old Priest stage resurrected and decorated with hay bales and some fairly decent lights and fog. Small world, but the stage guys need to make a buck..

My first concert ever (I was 12!) was Priest on this tour in upstate NY (Glens Falls Civic Center)... It's still a standard most bands i've seen in the 24 years since haven't been able to live up to... Maiden's Powerslave tour was probably the only think I can think of that tops this one!

This show was AFTER the concert I went to, what the heck was I smoking? Oh, that's right. Anyway, great show - "Rock Hard, Ride Free"!

I went to the 4/11/84 show at the Baltimore Civic Center, 15 and my first rock concert! I was sooo psyched to see them live, my local radio station carried this concert live (I still have the tape I made when I recorded the show), I was going to see my fav band a few weeks later and this broadcast just got me more pumped. Needless to say I didn't see alot of the show because I was too busy headbanging! Twisted Sister opened and they were great too! I was hoarse for a few days after the show from all my singing and hollering! Great time!

This was my first indoor concert, except for a free show KLOS and Ratt put on at the Hollywood Palladium. Yngwie Malmsteen played with the opening act there. But at Long Beach Arena, I remember my dad driving us there because we were still only 15. Great White opened with their 'Stick IT' set... We were charged up for the 'Screaming for Vengence' and British Steel' songs, but not so much for the latest Turbo Lover stuff. Granted, we were about to see them live, so we were willing to take the good with the bad and were not disappointed. And of course there still was 'The Sentinal' and 'Freewheel Burning' witch rivaled anything else they had put out up until then... "We're about to do a number now concerning the law..." Breaking the WHAT? Breaking the WHAT?
