Concert Summary

This lengthy 1984-set showcases metal icons, Judas Priest, at their mid-1980s best. Consisting of the classic British Steel line-up that included vocalist Rob Halford, guitarists KK Downing and Glenn Tipton, bassist Ian Hill, and drummer Dave Holland, this recording was originally done for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and is essentially a greatest hits collection for the band, with some extra surprises.

Opening with "Love Bites," which…entire summary

One of the greatest bands of all time! You know what I'm talkin' about.... Priest, Maiden, Rush, Scorps, AC/DC... They made the world the way it is!! True masters of their craft..... not much comes close, before or after, kind of a trip... interesting...

I didn't get to my first Priest concert until 1991 in Oakland, CA. They headlined and Slayer opened up for them. It was one of the hardest metal shows I have ever seen. I was tossed about on the floor through both sets like a meaningless wiff for over two plus hours. I had no control of my body. I had to work hard just to breathe. It was an insane show. I lost my hearing for two days after, up all night, you know the drill.

I remember when I was about 14 or 15 and I was listening to the radio at about midnight. Thats when the KBFH came on. They palyed this show and I was blown away by Desert Plains. I saw the Priest on the Defenders tour ( I shook Robs hand) in NC a little later and agin this year in Bamberg Germany on the Nastrodamus tour. It was the most solid show Ive evr seen. They played together better than any band Ive ever seen.

At fifteen, my friends and I sat around and listen to the live broadcast on KLOS in Los Angeles. Some of us had just seen Priest the year before at the famous US Festival in '83. So we just bought a twelver of L?wenbr?u and a few party favors and CRANKED the shit out of the Marantz stereo! Great times indeed!

I attended this show on Priest's Defender tour. They were big enough to play Long Beach, but still small enough to not fill the Forum yet. I don't recall this being a King Biscuit show, but a live broadcast of the whole two hours on ABC Radio. I had a friend record the show and too still have the tape to prove it. I also had backstage passes and attended the afterparty for the show. Halford made an appearance, but left quickly to get away from the groupies (go figure). Tipton was rude, but had a meaningful discussion with Downing until some asian groupie drug him away. Talked KK into coming into the record offices the next day though. Quiet Riot and the Busboys also attended. Great set list. One of their best. A good time for rock-n-roll.
