Concert Summary

Yeah!! Unleashed in the Midwest and hell bent for leather, Judas Priest are here to run you down!! The forebears of what is most commonly understood to be pure heavy metal, Priest fought an uphill battle from the cast-iron prison of Birmingham, England to become perhaps the most respected band in the genre and the catalyst for the hugely influential New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

While Judas Priest are more popularly associated with the metal…entire summary

I saw this show Row 9 orchastra pit at Irvine Meadows, California. With Megadeth (Rust In Peace), and Testament (Souls of Black). Great billing, but as usual, Priest dominated. I still say they are worthy of seeing again and again. Am looking forward to Nostradamus Tour this year.

I was at this show also - I couldn't believe it when I saw it here at WV. Me and my buds had 12th row when Priest played Sandstone in Bonner Springs, KS. (not Missouri)..... I saw a lot of shows in the 80's....but this one I remember being the best one i ever saw.

I saw the 5/31/86 show at the Capital Center in Largo, MD (now a mall), Great White opened and they were fantastic. This tour (and album) did not have the same energy or vibe they once had (see "Live Vengeance '82" dvd). Granted, "Painkiller" was/is a great album and that tour was great (see the youtube vids) but by then they had fallen off the radar of the heavy metal crowd. I saw them on their "Angel of Retribution" on 6/19/05 at the Nissan Pavilion in Va.,and they played a alot of older songs and were great. Rob is now hunched over as if had been in Notre Dame all his life, but he still has the pipes, and Glenn, KK, Ian and Scott rock hard; "Nostrodamus" should be.......interesting.

Can we have "You've Got Another Thing Coming" please and not a repeat of track 10?

I was at this show. It was at Sandstone Ampitheater in KC. It was a beautiful night. I'd just graduated from high school a week or so prior. What a great care-free summer before heading off to college. As for where the Turbo-era work should reside in Judas Priest's catalog, it's not their strongest material but they still could "deliver the goods" like true "metal gods" on-stage. Did they loose some fans at this time? Yes, but I feel it was a combination of things that caused them to leave, not just the glammed up and laughable hairstyles they featured. It as though they listened to too many record company research people. I, for one, was thrown by synths. Remember Ozzy sported that look in 86 too (Ultimate Sin anyone?). It looked silly on him too. Meanwhile, a very real-looking and hungry Metallica came roaring out of nowhere with Master of Puppets and no amount of hair gel and Styper-like puffy leather could save Judas Priest. I'm sure they look at their old photos the way we all do, slightly embarassed. I saw Halford doing his solo act a few years back and it was amazing. I Judas Priest come around on their next tour. I'd go. What a thrill to listen to it again. Now if only I could still wear that size of jeans...

A great show! - I saw the sequel a few days later in Rochester, NY - my last real metal concert. I have to agree with Charles that the intro of the keyboard stuff was the turn of the Priest toward the FM dial. Until then they did not care about fitting in. Thanks to the King for capturing this one for us old headbangers to get into.
