Concert Summary

Lynyrd Skynyrd was performing in the United Kingdom on a tour promoting their third studio album, Nuthin' Fancy. The band was coming off two hugely successful albums, their debut, Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd and 1974's Second Helping, and they had recently changed both their drummer (from Bob Berns to Artimus Pyle) and lost their original guitarists, Ed King. The changes had appeared to revitalize the band, which, although down to six pieces, played with more energy and passion than they had…entire summary

Anonymous, sounds like you might be from the DC area. I saw LS at the Alexandria Roller Rink sometime around 1970, 71, 72, ????? Some of it's still a fog.. It was a party for a lot of guys coming home from Nam.

Ed King left five or six months before this concert.

What an awesome concert :) I think Free Bird is probably still the most requested song live venues.. although I am a little partical to No 7 **smile**

Agree with earlier posts. Three songs missing Simple Man, T for Texas and Same Ol' Blues plus they are in the wrong order. I also have Ed King as playing in this gig. But all that aside, the sound quality is amazing. One of my favorite Skynyrd gigs. Best Whiskey Rock 'n Roller ever!

I saw them first in late 1973 at the Spectrum in Phillie. They were on before the Who. We were so pumped for the Who that we really didn't care if these guys played or not. I was in the first 5 rows from the stage and when they finished they owned the stage and most of us wanted more! Then we got to hear the WHO! Amazing times! I saw them again on July 4th,1975 in Birmingham Alabama at the Rickwood ball park. The stage was on home plate and I was on the pichers mound. Then went to a party after show where band members were. I was with brother-in-law who worked for a drug company in Atlanta. I'm a lucky man. Miss them daily.

I was in San Antonio, TX @ the Swampwater Saloon (Ladies Drink Free) in '77 (or '78?) when I heard Skynnards plane crashed. Me and the girl I didn't even know cried together.

Hello Anonymous | Friday, April 10, 2009 | 8:45 am, Thanks for the note. We have re-edited the first two songs and uploaded them to the server. We appreciate the feedback. Keep it coming. On the case, The Concert Vault crew ________ ..just a programming note here fella's. If you actually listen to the download, the first selection, "DOUBLE TROUBLE", ends at 3:01, at which point "I AIN'T THE ONE" jumps in. Of course that would shorten the time of "trouble" and lengthen the time of "I AIN'T THE ONE". Other than than that, a great sample, although it does sound a little scant without the sweet back-up voices doin' that WOWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! Been a big fan since I saw them open for The Who at the Cap centre in Md. in, uhhh...was it '73???
