Concert Summary

With his loud amplified guitar and thunderous beat, Muddy Waters reigned over the Chicago blues scene during the 1950s. Waters' sound was steeped in Delta country blues and his use of microtones, in both his vocals and slide guitar playing, was utterly distinctive. His influence over a variety of musical genres, including blues, R & B, rock ‘n’ roll, folk, jazz, and country cannot be overestimated. Waters became the most popular bluesman in the world and led the most outstanding band, fueled in large part by Willie Dixon,…entire summary

As great as James Corron and Muddy Waters are Johnny Winters takes command of the hard-driving rhythm and blows the roof off this concert

This is one GREAT show! What a band to have assembled on the same stage. Most of these guys are still alive so go support them if they come to your area and don't forget to support your local blues. Also I would like to thank CV for keeping all these great archives alive. Live On, Curtis

I saw the Hard Again show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, and consider myself very fortunate because Mr, Morganfield didn't live a whole lot longer after that. This band was one of the greatest ever put together. Thank you Johnny!

I was at this show and it's a joy to hear it in it's entirety once again! However, I don't thik Edgar is playing on "Dealing with the Devil". I do remember him coming out to join on background vocals for "Got My Mojo Working", but not on the other tune. I do remember that there were 2 guys on stage for the whole show filming it and I'd love to know where that film is today. I'm a good friend of Johnny's and he nor Bob Margolin remember the 2 guys filming it, but I know what I saw. Either way it was truly a magical evening of the Blues and now you can all hear for yourself what a night it was! Thanks to the good folks at Wolfgang's Vault for posting this priceless gem!

I recently purchased the 2 CD's (Breakin' it Up/Breakin' it down and Muddy "Mississippi" Waters - Live) mentioned in the article, and have to admit that they are great! Love Johny Winter, James Cotton and Muddy together. This concert contains more material (and some of the materail sounds like the same material on the CD's, by the way), and sounds great! I have only one regret: I can't download it!!!!!!! WHich really sucks!
