Concert Summary

Following the outstanding performances that proceeded it, this closing All-Star set from the 1975 Bay Area S.N.A.C.K. benefit had a lot to live up to. With a lineup that featured Neil Young and Bob Dylan, backed by two members from Neil's group, the Stray Gators, and three from the Band, one would expect this to be an incredible set. In some respects it certainly is, but the lack of rehearsal opportunity and technical problems prevent it from being the…entire summary

I was at this concert at thr ripe age of 18.. hitched down from Chico. Thanks for making it available.. after all these years it still gives me goosebumps as it did that day. That was one exceptionally great day. The sun coming out as the Dead finished their half hour jam of Blues for Allah, and the whole place up on its feet. Neil, Dylan and the Band ending the day. What a concept. I remember playing Helpless with a couple friends (me on dulcimer) and we were jamming along and I moved us into Knockin on Heavens Door. They thought it was inspirational, but I had to cop that I had heard it before at a particularly fantastic day. It also seemed rather poignant that as Joan Baez was singing alone on the stage, storm clouds were coming towards her and she sang into the storm. As we left the stadium, it started raining as it had at three o'clock in the morning. Quite magical.

I was just born to late, but having a brother and sister older than me served up a big helping of great 60's & 70's music that i grew up on. Im 40 now and thank god there is a wonderful site like this to hear such great music, the best is strap on these crapy headphones and burn down................ Thanks Neil and the boys

I remember the day well, as Fred, Paula and I, and probably Brider too waited some guy used a batman hook to hoist himself over the stadium walls which were formidable. We watched in awe as I started on a gallon jug of premium Red Mountain Burgundy quite early in the morning. As the day progressed so did the bottle find itself diminishing. By the time Neil came out I had passed from a drunken stupor to sober again. As the announcement of the backup band was being uttered I remember pitching forward to see what all the excitement was about. I heard the name "Rick Danko" and "Levon Helm" and started to feel unreal sensing that... what...no way...nah ah...f***its BOB F******* Dylan! First time I ever saw a living legend, and with Neil! It was sublime and if the wings of time could fly counter to the laws of physics I'd go back in a heartbeat.

when i was a kid there was no internet. one could listen to music over the radio or buy it at a record store. to be able to click a mouse and hear this stuff for free is amazing. ya, the sound quality on this one is just ok, but it's FREE. how could one complain about that? god bless all of the musicians we get to listen to and god bless this site. what a wonderful thing. enjoy it people. this is just too cool. just another old farts opinion. and trust me, i am an old fart and i can laugh about it. life is so short. just enjoy it.

I agree with the deadhead's ear; the commentary is painful...painful.
