Concert Summary

Ozzy Osbourne had only been out of Black Sabbath a couple of years when he formed this now legendary solo band and embarked on his controversial Blizzard of Oz tour (rumored to be a reference to his ongoing cocaine use). Now supporting a wife, Sharon (the daughter of Sabbath manager Don Arden), Ozzy was essentially broke, and had to start from the ground up when launching his newfound solo career.

Unlike most lead singers who go solo in order to…entire summary

Only the guitar solo was taken from this show for the Tribute Album. The reason Randy probably looked a little bored was because he had been feeling under the weather due to a cold. What is also curious about this recording is the fact that it is the only one out of all the pro and bootleg recordings out there that has Flying High Again as the first song. The order for all the songs normally played on this tour was the same as what is listed on the Tribute minus the last two live tracks (Goodbye to Romance and No Bone Movies)

Finally to get to hear the whole show, Hopefully it will be released on CD someday. At the time it was broadcast in my area, a storm interrupted the signal. Randy Rhoads, was just always blistering,as this performance shows. I was lucky to see his last performance in Knoxville, Tenn. March 18th, and in Lexington, Ky in February. Randy looked kinda bored in Knoxville, He used a Black Jackson shark fin design with brass hardware on I Don't Know, which he did'nt play in the Lexington show a month before. The organ intro to Mr.Crowley did'nt work due to a bad buzz, but they kicked ass! Tommy was using a White Sonor kit that night. He was playing a wood grain kit in Lexington. Magnum (who Ozzy introduced over the P.A)and UFO(No Schenker)opened in Knoxville. Star Fighters and UFO were the openers in Lexington.Thank you Wolfgang's Vault for making this show available. Randy RIP !!!

I was just reading Rudy Sarzo's new-ish book about touring with Ozzy/Randy called Off The Rails. Interesting stuff, if a little dry. The emphasis is on what being a traveling musician is like day by day, although there are some pretty funny Ozzy stories. Regarding this show Rudy says that the whole band admitted that this show was one of the worst of the tour, and they knew it was being recorded for future use. Still worth a listen...any live Rhoads certainly is. I was too young, I only got to see Ozzy on the No More Tours tour with Zack in the early 90's (after having tickets for 2 other Ozzy shows that were both cancelled, one on the day of the show!)...it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. He really got in shape for that tour.

Great concert. I think Ozzy's vocals are OK, the second solo in Suicide solution is the one used for Tribute and is awesome, the best bar none! Why is this not available for download? All Randy's concerts should be as a tribute to the great man.
