Concert Summary

This stunning audio recording made at Maida Vale Studios on October 28, 1977 (and broadcast on BBC Radio 1 two weeks later), has become one of the most bootlegged Queen recordings ever. The idea to capture the band live in a state-of-the-art broadcast recording studio was indeed a smart one, since Queen's success came from a combination of high-end, tech-driven guitar wizardry and passionate musical performances.

Recorded right as their popular News of the World album was being released, Queen during this time sounded as if …entire summary

This is not a live recording of "It's Late". There are two distinct guitar tracks (panned hard left and hard right) and multitracked Backgound Vocals. It's AWESOME, but it's not "live". Mercury sounds like he is singing live over the backing track. Then they stopped the backing track, let them do the middle bit, then played the ending from tape Unless they had a second guitarist in the studio and an ess load of very well trained background vocalists, this is not live.

Saw Queen 8 times, including what turned out to be their last ever concert at Knebworth Park 1986. Queen were all things to all people, musically. I love the early stuff, but they were not a singles band. They were made for live performance. Live Aid showed why they were considered the greatest live band of their era, and if you need convincing, just watch the Live Aid DVD and tell me who was better.Ok rant over!

Okay, so I was wrong about 'myriad'. But I am still wondering about "I Go Crazy"??

Awesome! Nobody could touch the four of them when they harmonized, yet Paul Rogers is a great fit who sounds and looks better than he did in the 70s! I recall, in high school, a group of several of us breaking into an abandoned Sanitarium in Garden Grove, CA (across from what was formerly Maple Lanes), and hearing "We Will Rock You" from one of my fellow co-conspirators' Camaro! While we all scoured the trashed facility and its empty Thorazine containers, the music lent an eerie quality to our trek! What a memory! Gracias, Senor Lobo - and Feliz Navidad!

Please post more Queen. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah, Led Zeppelin as well. These are two staple classic rock groups with a poor showing in the Vault. This site still kicks a**!

I'm tired of reading blogs by amateur editors. So what if there are occasionally misspelled words or misused words in the summaries. Dougjack and byerly6 need to get lives. Start looking at the positive (we get to enjoy this site and the music for free) rather than looking for errors or the down side of others efforts. Happy Holidays
