Concert Summary

This recording comes from the original Allman Brothers Band lineup and was the west coast counterpart to the famous Fillmore East gigs, also recorded in 1971. The Fillmore East tapes eventually became the source for the Allman Brothers's legendary At Fillmore East release, one of the best selling rock albums ever and widely regarded by rock historians and critics as the greatest live album of all time.

The six songs are mostly all on the Fillmore East LP, but they are clearly different takes and contain a different feel and energy than those on the famous double live…entire summary

Trouble No More doesn't get much mention when great Brothahs songs are discussed...But I'm becoming more of a fan of it and Les Brers....both showcase the band at their best....improvisational on Les Brers and sticking to the hard bluesy rock of Trouble No More...I saw them after Duane died....they always put on a good show ...wish I could have seen Duane tho..may their music never die!

The track for sure is different then the much favorite version from the Fillmore East concert in the same year. But nonetheless it is very powerfull.

Guilty = skipped strait to "Whippen," and again completely FLOORED by Duane... Gregg's Hammond B3 loud up-front and personal... replay more than twice (you'll get it). Dickey (wick'ed-dickey better than slowhand??? by his own admission), beautiful solo Mr. Blue-Sky (no shit). Muchas gracias... onwards to Heaven I roll amist a tympani of peaches... Duane Bless...

The guitar conversation that begins around 8:57 of You Don't Love me, makes me grin from ear to ear every time I hear it. To think that a bloke of my age only caught up with the Allmans in the last year or so, on this very website, oh, the shame.

That Watkins Glen story is false. The concert was in 1973 and Duane had died in '71.
