Concert Summary

This abbreviated set is from the Stones 1981 Still Life tour, and is one of several shows on this trek recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour. The Stones had been the first massive superstars to agree to be recorded for the Biscuit when it launched in 1973; it's no wonder that the folks at the radio series always made the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band one of its highest priorities.

Although the recording doesn't capture as much of this show as the other 1981 Stones shows on the Concert Vault, it's among the best, as the band is firing on all cylinders. The set opens…entire summary

I have a bootleg of this on vinyl that sounds better. The show was great!

Great concert, Stones rocking as ever. Nice to hear 'Hang Fire', performed only rarely.

this is god-awful. Hopefully Mick was a bit sick because otherwise i can not understand how he can sound so awful. Beyond that, it is embarassing to listen to this after listening to the Brussells 1973 show. Ron Wood, while i love the Faces, is just not a good fit. And Keith is a shadow of himself - i cant stand the way he constantly mugs for the audience now.

Mick has been "yelling" for a long time!-he should just find his old singing voice like on the old records and trust those expensive pa's and mics -he'll be heard just fine.

Thanks for the concert!. The Stones was and will be the best live band ??ever!!. Just take a look how much powerfull are their performances. ?More 81 archives for us? ?What about the rest of this concert, please? Saludos!!

I agree. Probably the reason the Stones have never put out an archival live box is that Mick stinks live. Quite the celebrity though ain't he? However, that being said, any Mick Taylor era Stones would be much appreciated. Ron Wood is an awful hack.

  • Straydog | Monday, June 16, 2008 | 7:29 pm

These guys just might be the worst live band ever. Mick just yells...not singing. Keith...well just a burnout...it's a shame with todays technology they can't be better live......sorry but they are very disappointing...
