Concert Summary

Exactly one week after this show was performed at New York's Palladium theater by America's all-female punk band, the Runaways, the Sex Pistols performed their final show before disbanding at Winterland in San Francisco. It was somehow appropriate that both the key male and female punk bands were breaking down at the same time, because within the year, the Runaways would be history, too.

This performance, although pretty rockin', shows a band that was clearly falling apart. The initial major-label line up which included singer Cherrie Curie, bassist Jackie Fox, drummer Sandy West, and…entire summary

Wow! Thanks for rescuing this memorable, bittersweet snapshot. I can remember this originally on my Toronto FM radio station at the time. Joan Jett trying to keep things driving on, riding a great new lp - her leadership and R&R attitude were undeniable. Tanktop

I get how seminal a band of all girl punk rockers was but this sounds kind of amateurish to me.

Production of a biopic on "The Runaways" is rumored to begin filming sometime in 2009. Joan Jett is listed as "Executive Producer". Kristen Stewart seen recently in the movie "Twilight" is signed to portray Jett. Until this movie is released, check out the excellent documentary "Edgeplay" mentioned in the concert summary above.

Falling apart or not, these ladies were still ROCKING!!! Long Live Rock 'n' Roll. Saw Joan for the first time in 1981 in Wildwood, New Jersey, on the boardwalk. What a wild night! Sure would have loved to see Lita Ford back in the day. She could kick some ass on that guitar of hers.
