Concert Summary

Rock 'n’ roll comes in many different shapes and sizes, and on the night of April 26, 1970, it came to the Fillmore West in the form of a barrel-chested Irishman in a silk shirt and flares.

At 24 years of age, Van Morrison had already experienced the sort of career rollercoaster that less robust singers preferred to stretch out over a lifetime. The blue-eyed soul of his early work with Ulster pub-rockers Them had been all but abandoned in favor of darker, more introspective material on his seminal solo recordings;…entire summary

What a "GEM " of a performance and it's not yet, another " Mahavishnu Orchestra " concert !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is someone blackmailing someone else, to release so many concerts by the " Mahavishu Orchestra " as opposed to other bands ??????????????? There isn't one "Eagles " concert here and you have plenty of other " Gems " you haven't released, other than the dozen or so " Mahavishnu Orchestra ". Yes, I am bias , you see I saw " the Mahavishnu Orchestra " at the Roxy on Sunset Blvd.in 1974 or 75 and it was one of the worst concerts ever. John M.'s footpedal wasn't working right ,so he proceeded to through it at one of his roadies. I didn't go to see that, not very professional. Anyway , I digress, you see that now ,when you now come out with this important " Van " concert it shows you guys have got alot more gems . I think this is the best Van concert you've got so far . Thanks markcus

van morrison performances are always on top. i've heard he is a prefectionist. the band he assembled for the montreaux "1980" show seemed very flawless. but even though the fans are willing to let musical heros be human the artist never accept it. this show sounds very orchstrated to me. van morrison is one musical treasure. ...................ron wilson gainesville ga usa

Quick comment for "Patco"..you're thinking about the WNET PBS special presented in 1971 "Live at the Fillmore East." This is not that concert at all. Now to my comment. I first heard this concert back in the summer of 1970, on the "pacifica" fm radio station "KPFA." Every Sunday night at 10pm on a show called "Stays Fresh Longer." The host of that show was "Warren Van Orden" who clearly told the radio audience that he was the recording engineer for this and other concerts from the "Fillmore West" and other venues around the bay area. For some reason, he skipped "Into the Mystic." I'll never know why. Last weeks "Sons of Champlin" October 1969, was also one that he recorded for the "Fillmore West" and Kpfa. Also of note, Kpfa presented the following week, "Joe Cocker and the Mad Dogs and Enlishmen" concert. Guess what? The same night (4-26-70) as this Van Morrison concert! Van played before Joe Cocker. In other words, Joe was the headliner. I keep hoping that "Wolfgang's Vault" would also present the"Joe Cocker and the Mad Dogs and Enlishmen" (4-26-70) concert also. It's a good one. Please. The concert was 90 minutes long. Anyway, that's my memory of this concert. Oh by the way, in the New York area "WBAI" probably broadcast this concert. (Wolfgang vault...any chance you can find "Linn County" or "Kaleidoscope?" Thanks
